ABOUT COMPANY
PAKKA LIMITED
Pakka Limited is India’s largest manufacturer of compostable packaging made from sugarcane bagasse, and the country’s first Manufacturing B Corp — one of only approximately seven publicly listed B Corps globally. Founded in 1981 by K.K. Jhunjhunwala in Ayodhya as a kraft paper mill, the company transformed under the leadership of his son Ved Krishna (Vice Chairman & MD) into a regenerative packaging business.
The company operates an integrated facility in Ayodhya with 39,100 MTPA paper capacity across three machines, 42,900 MTPA pulp capacity from a 130 TPD mill, 23 tableware production lines producing approximately one million pieces per day, and a 140 MT chemical recovery plant. The facility runs entirely off-grid on 8.5 MW of biomass power fuelled by rice husks, and recovers 95% of its cooking chemicals through a closed-loop system. Ninety percent of raw material is locally sourced sugarcane bagasse from within 100–200 km of the factory.
Pakka sells under the Chuk brand for tableware and food service, exporting to 45+ countries. The company reported revenue of ₹414 Cr in FY2023-24 and has announced a target of $1 billion revenue by FY30. A ₹550 Cr expansion (Project Jagriti) will nearly double domestic capacity, and a US$250 million plant in Guatemala is planned as the world’s largest compostable packaging facility.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pakka’s transformation from a conventional paper mill to India’s leading compostable packaging company is one of the sector’s most compelling business stories. The Ayodhya factory, which once produced kraft paper, now runs 23 tableware lines alongside its paper machines — all powered by biomass energy and supplied by locally sourced sugarcane waste that would otherwise be burned.
The company’s MahaKumbh 2025 partnership is particularly significant. With an estimated 400 million pilgrims attending over 45 days, Chuk tableware replaced single-use plastic at food stalls across the event — making it one of the largest single deployments of compostable tableware in history.
Pakka is also a rare example of a listed Indian company (BSE: 516030, NSE: PAKKA) with a clear sustainability-first business model, reporting ₹414 Cr revenue in FY2023-24 with plans to reach $1 billion by FY30. The upcoming Guatemala facility (US$250M, 130,000 TPA) would make it the world’s largest compostable packaging plant.
