Yes. Our profile-extrusion biopolymer is tuned for screw speeds of 3060 rpm and melt temperatures of 150-175 °C, close to PP settings. So, you can expect a smooth transition within one shift.

Our lab immersion tests have shown compostable drinking straws to resist deformation and avoid soggy collapse for 24 hours in 0-5 °C beverages and over 12 hours in 45 °C liquids.

Absolutely. The straw wrapper film accepts soy-based or water-based inks that meet EU food-contact limits. We support CMYK flexo printing with low-VOC solvents.

Our compostable bioplastic resin and finished straws are certified ISO 17088.

Ukhi is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of compostable straws made from profile extrusion biopolymer in India. We make raw materials from agricultural waste material, including hemp and flax fibers, and then run the biopolymer on standard profile extrusion lines.

The cost of compostable straws in bulk is about 10–15 % above polypropylene. However, with regulations around single‑use plastic restrictions and extended producer responsibility fees increasing around the world, switching early can create economic advantages long‑term.

Send used straws to an industrial composting or organic-waste facility where they convert to CO₂, water, and biomass in about 180 days. Home composting is possible but may take longer.
